Dr. Peder Larson is developing a novel contrast agent to enhance the diagnostic effectiveness of MRI. He has a background in engineering and is finding partners in the medical sciences to help him apply this new technology to screen certain types of cancers. The guidance that he received from his clinical peers at UC San Francisco as well as from the Catalyst Awards advisor, Dr. Teresa Wright, has helped him to better understand the needs of various patient populations and to identify areas for which this technology would be most useful.
