Dr. Shuvo Roy, an engineer by training, is applying highly efficient semiconductor-based processing techniques to develop the foundation for a fully functional artificial kidney . To ensure the success of the program, he works with a multidisciplinary team of bioengineers, nephrologists, material scientists and others at UC San Francisco and across the nation. Dr. Roy and his collaborators have translated their innovation from a concept to a clinically viable product that will be ready for human trials within the next few years.
